McBride '07 Helping Veterans & Military Spouses Learn CodeSean McBride has been named Washington, DC Chapter Lead for Operation Code, a nonprofit that helps veterans and military spouses learn to code, land jobs in the tech industry, and continue their service through "civic hacking" and open-source contributions to mission-driven nonprofits and state and federal digital service teams.

When Sean transitioned from IT consulting and software technical sales into web development in 2016, Operation Code provided technical mentorship and coaching, which allowed him to win a full-ride scholarship to attend Fullstack Academy, a NYC-based coding bootcamp, and land a job as a web developer with an Alexandria, VA based startup. Over the past two years, Sean has contributed over 10,000 lines of code to production apps run by U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) components and commercial clients.

As chapter leader, Sean will collaborate with colleges, coding bootcamps, and industry partners to host events to help build bridges between the military community and the tech industry in the DC metro area.
