Mike Burton (E4), RV-based wanderer, active sport parachutist and WWII paratrooper re-enactor persuaded classmates, John Scanlan and Jay Willis both (A4), to accompany him to Normandy for the 75th anniversary of the greatest amphibious assault in history the first week of June. He also issued a challenge for all to have a picture taken in uniform to mark the event. Dutifully, Scanlan assembled two of his father’s WWII uniforms for he and Willis, summarily lost 40+ pounds and voila, "she fitta fine". Assembling in Frankfurt, the lads first did a sweep thru the Ardennes, Meuse-Argonne, and Chateau-Thierry locales before settling down to their bivouacs in Normandy where a very good time was had by all and much history was absorbed and Calvados drunk – both firsts for Willis in this neck of the woods.
