Robert Sweetman ’73 has released the novel “The Loyal, True, and Brave” which covers the period between the battle of Chancellorsville and the culmination of the battle of Gettysburg as seen from the perspective of four Union soldiers. These four soldiers - General George Meade, General Winfield Hancock, General Daniel Sickles, and Sergeant Henry Taylor of the First Minnesota Infantry all contributed to the final outcome of the battle of Gettysburg. This novel is not your normal historical fiction. It sticks strictly to the facts and includes why things actually happened the way they did and not just what happened. It is more “historical” and less “fiction”.
