Fort Leavenworth Indoor Pool Named in Honor of 1LT Bernstein ’01

The indoor pool at Harney Gymnasium on Fort Leavenworth was named in honor of 1LT David R. Bernstein ’01, who was killed in action on October 18, 2003 while serving in Taza, Iraq. LTG Theodore Martin ’83, CAC CG, hosted the event. Michelle Lee (sister) and Doug Bernstein were guests of honor. Bernstein was a competitive swimmer, lettering in the sport all four years at the Academy. After graduating in 2001, he was commissioned as an infantry officer. At the time of his death he was the Executive Officer of Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment. View highlight video from the dedication ceremony.
