BG (R) Chris Petty ’87 has released his first book, “12 Battles Every American Should Know”. General Petty retired after 31 years of service, both Active and National Guard. He commanded a battalion that earned combat distinction during the Iraq “Surge” and went on to command NATO Headquarters in Bosnia. His goal with this book was to create a simple and concise summary of American history through 12 battles. According to Petty, “In our current age of division, this book is an easy rallying point on some of the most unifying moments in our cultural history. Because these great conflicts bind us as a nation, every American should be familiar with them. And to do that, I needed to make them easy but enjoyable reads.” And in a special nod to the military professional, each battle demonstrates timeless lessons of war that are still relevant today.
