On 25 October, the West Point Society of Annapolis (WPSOA) hosted a dinner for the seven Class of 2024 Exchange Cadets in Annapolis. The exchange cadets are at USNA for the fall semester.
Retired Rear Admiral, Mike Shelton, USMA Class of 1967, addressed the dinner guests and discussed his navy career and his book. In his book, entitled "West Point Admiral, Leadership Lessons from Four Decades of Military Service," the admiral shared his military career from West Point, through Vietnam and his postings across the globe. He also discussed the traits of good and bad leadership, while offering his candid perspective of how the military has evolved, as well as the differences between army and navy philosophies. His talk was well-received by the cadets, the WPSOA members and their guests. In a very generous gesture, the admiral presented signed copies of his book to the cadets. In thanking the admiral for his talk, Steve Heinecke '77, WPSOA President, presented the admiral with the WPSOA Challenge Coin. In all, 23 guests attended the event and had a wonderful time.
