A few hours before the finals of the West Point Open, hosted by the Army West Point Gymnastics Team, five alumni gymnasts were inducted into the 1LT Howie Pontuck Wall of Distinction. Pontuck ’66, the captain of the 1965-66 Gymnastics Team, was killed in action in Vietnam in 1968. The wall, located on the upper floor of the Lou Gross Sports Center, recognizes Army gymnasts who have made significant contributions to the Army and the Nation following graduation. This includes those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in war, those who attained the rank of general officer, those who earned a valor award, and those who were Prisoners of War.
