Robert L. Dean, Jr. USMA 1953, has been selected to receive a 2015 Distinguished Alumni Award from the Oklahoma Military Academy which he attended before West Point. The award will be presented on June 6, 2015 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Dean is a world renowned sculptor, playwright, and musician. He is most noted for his statues of distinguished military heroes to include Eisenhower, MacArthur, Bradley, Patton, and DE Gaulle. His statues of Eisenhower on the Plain at West Point and the American Embassy in London are two of his more famous works. Some of his other works are in the West Point Library’s Haig Room. Dean continues to sculpt, and to compose and write for the theater from his home in Oklahoma.
