WEST POINT – The U.S. Military Academy’s Board of Visitors on Monday named Brenda Sue Fulton as its new chairwoman. Fulton, a member of West Point’s class of 1980 – the first graduating class to include women – now becomes the first female graduate of the academy to chair the panel.
Fulton was a founder of Knights Out, a group of West Point alumni, staff and faculty who support gay soldiers; a founding board member of OutServe, an advocacy group for active-duty gays in the military; and currently heads SPARTA, a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender military organization.
