The ninth annual Mike "Coach K" Krzyzewski Award for Excellence in Teaching Character Through Sport awards were presented to three coaches and three cadet athletes May 1, at the Cadet Mess Hall. The award, sponsored by the West Point Department of Physical Education (DPE), recognizes West Point athletes and coaches (sport educators) for their outstanding commitment to the development of noble character through athletic participation and leadership.
This year’s awards, a certificate and medal, were presented by Duke Men's Basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski, a 1969 USMA graduate and former Army basketball player and coach, to an athlete and coach in each sport category within the Corps of Cadets – Intercollegiate Athletics, Competitive Club Athletics and Company Athletics.
