Fort Knox, Ky. -- Col. Brian J. Mennes, became Brig. Gen. Brian J. Mennes in a ceremony in the Pentagon. Mennes is the Deputy Commanding General, U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox, Kentucky. He will shortly move on to his next assignment, Deputy Commanding General for Maneuver, 2nd Infantry Division, in Korea.
In his 27-year career he has served through the entire range of leadership and staff positions, from platoon leader through brigade commander. He has served a total of nine deployments: Panama (Operation Just Cause); the Sinai Desert (United Nations Multinational Force); South Korea; and multiple deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq.
The U.S. Army Cadet Command oversees the Army's senior and Junior ROTC programs. It commissions more than 70 percent of the Army's new officers each year through host ROTC programs at 275 host universities and more than 1,000 affiliated programs at other colleges across the nation.
