A new district engineer responsible for planning, engineering and constructing water resource projects, such as the Charleston Harbor Post 45 Deepening Project, will assume command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, on Friday July 10th.
Lt. Col. Matthew W. Luzzatto will assume command in a ceremony at The Citadel's Mark Clark Hall in the Buyer Auditorium. Luzzatto replaces Lt. Col. John T. Litz, who completes his two-year term before reporting to his new assignment at USACE headquarters.
As district engineer, Luzzatto will be responsible for water resource projects and administering laws for the protection of navigable waterways and regulatory actions for the state. He will oversee approximately 250 employees who are stationed throughout the state. Luzzatto also will oversee the military construction program at Fort Jackson. Read More
