Orlando, FL (September 2, 2015): Brigadier General (Retired) Leslie Beavers of Frankfort, KY was honored with the 2015 National Association of State Directors of Veterans Affairs (NASDVA) President’s Award during NASDVA’s annual conference. General Beavers is Executive Director of NASDVA where he serves and advocates for our Nation’s 20 million Veterans. He routinely represents the views of NASDVA and its members (50 states and four territories) before Congress, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and national Veterans Service Organizations. Outgoing NASDVA President, Lonnie Wangen, commended Beavers for his outstanding service and stated, “Les Beavers continues to be a mentor to all of us and is unmatched in the positive impact he has had on the welfare of America’s Veterans”.

Leslie Beavers is the former Commissioner of Veterans Affairs for Kentucky. He served his country in uniform for over 27 years and is a distinguished and decorated combat Veteran of the Vietnam War.
