2LT St. Amour ’15 Representing USMA at Cyber Conf.

2LT Leo St. Amour ’15 and MAJ W. Michael Petullo (EECS) represented the US Military Academy and Cyber Research Center at the Fifth International Conference on Security, Privacy, and Applied Cryptography Engineering in Jaipur, India. Leo presented the results of his honors-thesis research, "Improving Application Security through TLS-Library Redesign." Leo's work included designing, implementing, and evaluating a new cryptographic library which makes it easier to develop applications which withstand attacks from adversaries wishing to violate the confidentiality of traffic on the Internet. The open-source library Leo produced, libtlssep, is now available for download by anyone who wishes to improve the quality of their software - https://www.flyn.org/projects/libtlssep/. The conference participants included world-renowned cryptographers and systems researchers. Beyond the academic activities, conference attendees were treated to a number of cultural and social events in the city of Jaipur, India. This work and travel was the first activity funded by the recently-awarded National Science Foundation grant titled "Next-Generation Robust Software." Story
