Raymer ’89 Promoted to BG and Named Commandant

James Raymer was recently promoted to the rank of Brigadier General and named commandant of the U.S. Army Engineer School at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri. Major General Kent Savre, Fort Leonard Wood commanding general, presided over the ceremony. Savre has known Raymer since their days at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and described him as a great leader who has had an amazing impact on everything he's touched.

“He has shown great competence as a soldier and engineer when charged with very challenging missions,” said Savre. Raymer’s family was present in force at the ceremony. His two daughters pinned the one-star brigadier general insignia on their father, and Raymer's wife, Liza, swapped out the field-grade engineer service cap for the general-officer service cap at the ceremony.
