The US Forest Service has appointed a new Director for Grey Towers National Historic Site, William A. (Bill) Dauer. A native Pennsylvanian, Dauer stepped into the new position this Fall, just in time to lead a busy season of public, education and leadership development programs. A 1981 graduate of the United States Military Academy and former Army football player, Bill joined the US Forest Service as an engineer in 1989 after 8 years of active duty in the US Army. Bill has held several positions with the US Forest Service throughout the country, including the Rio Grande National Forest in southern Colorado and, since 2000, the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire and Maine, where he has most recently been serving as Technical Services Team Leader.
