Former Fond du Lac City Manager Tom Herre has been appointed as interim president and CEO of the Fond du Lac Association of Commerce. Herre replaces Joe Reitemeier, who announced abruptly in March he would retire immediately after decades with the city's business development agency. Herre will serve until the Association's Board of Directors hires a replacement sometime in July. "We are pleased and grateful that Tom has agreed to serve in this important role while the AC transitions to new leadership," said Board Chair Tom Schneider. "His experience and passion for moving the Fond du Lac area forward make him uniquely qualified for this position."
His first business experiences in Fond du Lac were caddying at South Hills, delivering papers for The Reporter and Milwaukee Journal, and scooping custard at Gillies, according to a press release from the association. After a 30-year Army career he became the vice president of Referee Enterprises in Racine, and was also a new product development manager for Kimberly-Clark in Neenah. He has served on the board of directors of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation, Fond du Lac Convention and Visitors Bureau and the United Way. Currently, he is the president of the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts board and a member of the boards of the Fond du Lac Area Foundation and St. Mary's Springs Academy. Read More
