Panthers and Sunrise Sports & Entertainment (SSE), announced Matthew Caldwell had been promoted to team President and Chief Executive Officer. Caldwell had previously served as Chief Operating Officer for SSE the previous two years. "I have the utmost respect for Matt's tenacious efforts to build a sports organization that is a winner both on and off the ice," Panthers Chairman, Owner and Governor Vincent Viola said through the press release. "We look forward to having Matt in this leadership role."
Prior to joining the Panthers franchise, Caldwell was a Military Officer in the U.S. Army for five years in Germany. Caldwell, a one-time tank platoon leader who reached the rank of Captain, had deployments to Iraq and Kosovo during his tenure. According to Advance records, Caldwell cared deeply for the soldiers under his command. Upon noticing that 17 of his soldiers never received mail or packages, Caldwell asked his mom, Drema, if she'd seek donations for his comrades.
