MAJ Swedberg ’00 Receives Bronze de Fleury Medal

Major Andrew Swedberg ’00Brigadier General James Raymer, U.S. Army Engineer School commandant, awarded Major Andrew Swedberg ’00, Maneuver Support Center of Excellence, with the Bronze de Fleury Medal, May 20 at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Major Swedberg received the medal in recognition of his inspirational leadership and superior service to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The de Fleury Medal is U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ medal named after Francois Louis Tesseidre de Fleury, a French engineer, who volunteered to serve with the American Army in its fight for independence. In particular, de Fleury’s courage under fire in the Battle of Stony Point, N.Y. in 1779 won him the accolades of Congress. The U.S. Army Engineer Regiment adopted the de Fleury Medal as an award because of the values demonstrated by the man for whom it was struck. Read More
