During the Superintendent’s Convocation on August 9, 2016, the 59th Superintendent of the United States Military Academy, LTG Robert L. Caslen, Jr. presented the Apgar Award to LTC Christopher Korpela (EECS) and LTC Mike Saxon (DEP). LTC Korpela and LTC Saxon collaborated on an interdisciplinary project entitled "Ethics of Lethal Autonomous Weapons Systems" for PY201. This award was established by the Honorable Mahlon Apgar, IV, former Assistant Secretary of the Army, and its purpose is to encourage and reward faculty by supporting teaching projects that improve cadet learning.
