General (Retired) Lloyd J. Austin III '75 and author Brian G. Shellum '76 spoke on panels during the first Veterans Day military symposium at the National Museum of African American History and Culture. General Austin spoke with other distinguished panel members on a panel titled "Reflections on Service" and Mr. Shellum talked about the legacy of Colonel Charles Young, USMA 1889, with other authors on a panel titled "Remembering World War I." The panels were followed by a book signing at the museum where author Shellum signed copies of his book "Black Officer in a Buffalo Soldier Regiment: The Military Career of Charles Young."
