“The Bataan Death March began 80 years ago on April 9, 1942. Known for its unspeakable atrocities, the Bataan Death March is just one of several trials that some members of U.S. Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE) had to endure while defending the Philippines during World War II. Nearly 300 graduates of the United States Military Academy took part in fighting surrounding the Philippine Islands, 179 of which made the ultimate sacrifice. To commemorate their actions and to recognize the 80th anniversary of the Bataan Death March, the 2022 Spring issue of West Point magazine will be publishing “Battle, March, Remember: The Plight of West Pointers in the Philippines During WWII” in its Past in Review department, but you don’t have to wait for your issue to arrive to read this fascinating story.” Read more.
