WEST POINT – West Point’s commencement address this year will be delivered by one of its graduates. Gen. Martin Dempsey, the 18th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a member of the West Point Class of 1974, will be the speaker at this year’s graduation ceremony, scheduled for May 23. About 1,000 cadets will be commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army at that ceremony. Dempsey became chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff on Oct. 1, 2011, after serving about five months as the Army’s chief of staff. Read More
