Lt. Scott Smiley's life could have ended the day he was caught in a car-bomb explosion in Iraq and blinded for life, but instead it's led him here: To a future where he participated in the highly competitive Ironman triathlon in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho -- and crossed the finish line.
Smiley, who recently retired from the Army, took to the road June 28th with hundreds of other Ironman participants for a grueling three-part competition in 100 degree summer heat.
