Robert L. Dean, Jr. USMA 1953 was presented with the 2015 Distinguished Alumina Award from the Oklahoma Military Academy which he attended before West Point. The award was presented on June 6, 2015 in Claremore, Oklahoma. Dean is a world renowned sculptor, playwright, and musician. He is most noted for his commanding and realistic statues of distinguished military heroes. His statues of Eisenhower on the Plain at West Point and the American Embassy in London are two of his more famous works. Other works include Eisenhower statues in Dennison, Texas; Abilene, Kansas; Normandy, France; and MacArthur statues in Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and Texas Military Institute, San Antonio, Texas. His most recent work, a bust of General Schwarzkopf, is in the West Point Library along with statuettes of Eisenhower, MacArthur, Bradley and Patton. Dean continues to sculpt, compose and write for the theater from his home in Oklahoma.
