After competing in one of his finest seasons as a member of the Army West Point men's rugby team, newly commissioned 2Lt. Collum Magee has been named an All-American by USA Rugby, landing on the second-team. Magee joins 37 other D1A rugby players named to the list, which includes both 15s and 7s action.
In the fall, the captain started in all nine contests, finishing second on the team with nine tries and was one of just three Black Knights to score in at least six games. For his efforts, he was named the American Collegiate Rugby Conference (ACRC) MVP, earned All-ACRC first team recognition, was named the Rugby East Forward of the Year, garnered All-Rugby East first team honors and was named the Army Athletic Association Athlete of the Week following the team's victory over Kutztown.
Continuing his dominance in the spring, Magee tied for second on the team with five tries scored. His pick and run in the victory over service academy rival Navy was named the Army Athletic Association Play of the Week.
Magee helped lead the Black Knights to an overall record of 15-3 in 15s action, competing to an unblemished record of 8-0 in regular season competition in the fall. They earned the Rugby East title and captured victories over nationally ranked Penn State, Kutztown, Air Force and Wheeling Jesuit, wrapping up the year ranked fifth in the nation. In addition, they were named the Army Athletic Association Team of the Year at the 2015 Black Knight Awards. Read More
