The head of U.S. Army Pacific at Fort Shafter, a command that covers half the globe, was turned over to Lieutenant General Robert Brown. General Vince Brooks, who is leaving Hawaii after nearly three years, took command of U.S. Forces Korea, Combined Forces Command and United Nations Command in a ceremony Saturday at Yongsan Garrison, South Korea. Brown, who will receive his fourth star for the U.S. Army Pacific job, returns to Hawaii from Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, where he was commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center. In past positions Brown was a plans officer at U.S. Army Pacific, and with U.S. Pacific Command as executive assistant to the Pacific Command commander and director of training and exercises.
