GEN(R) Fred Franks ’59 presented a lecture on Desert Storm to the cadets enrolled in HI358 Strategy, Policy, and Generalship. General Franks based his presentation on his experiences as the VII Corps Commander during the conflict. He set the stage for the cadets by giving them an understanding of the world situation in 1990, as the Cold War drew to a close. He then walked the group through the timeline of events from the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in August 1990 to the cease fire at the end of the ground war in February 1991.
GEN Franks also included a variety of leadership lessons for the cadets. They left with an understanding of how our nation’s leaders responded to the challenges of that era.
