WPS of Annapolis & USMA ’73 Facilitate Oath of Affirmation

On 7 September 2021, the West Point Society of Annapolis (WPSOA) and members USMA ’73 (50-year Affiliation Class) conducted an Affirmation Ceremony for the seven fall exchange cadets from the Class of 2023 at USNA being the cadets could not join their classmates at West Point. The ceremony took place at O'Brien's Oyster Bar & Seafood Tavern in Annapolis. WPSOA President Steve Heinecke ’77 began the ceremony by explaining the significance of the Affirmation Ceremony. Steve then introduced LTG (R) Dave Huntoon ’73, former USMA Supt, who the addressed the cadets on the significance and how their West Point education and training will help them face the personal and military challenges that lie ahead. LTG Huntoon then administered the Oath of Affirmation to the exchange cadets, which was followed by members of USMA ’73 congratulating the cadets and presenting them with their Commemorative Coins.
